Alright, now we have a fishing section to the forum... I figure it's sort of related to aquaponics....
Does anyone use lures? I've started to try using them, always been a bait person myself really, but I've made a concerted effort lately to give lures more of a go. I'm still not convinced of them around Perth area.. Tried soft plastics, hard bodies, slices, and poppers of all shapes and sizes. Poppers are fun, IF something goes for them. Soft plastics get eaten by blowies, the other week I went through a packet of the things, all attacked by blowies and not real fish... Halco slices look good in the water but I've still had nothing take them.
Perhaps it's just me, but I'm starting to think it's a con. Well maybe they work up north but around Perth I get nothing. Lat night my mate walked up and down the beach flicking his metal slice with no results, meanwhile I was getting lots of bites and caught a couple of whiting. He tried again later on the jetty with a soft plastic and had no luck till he jagged a whiting in the stomach...

A couple years before my ex left I was going to finance her some enhancements, either that or a new bass boat her choice. Well I just happened to spend alittle too much time at discovery health channels and a thin little girl had just gotten an upgrade and there was a post op scene where her bottom jaw was just quivering in pain even though she was oviously heavily sedated. My ex went on a rant that there was no way she was freggin going to do that. So I got the bass boat...I still have that bass boat...and all it takes is a key to turn her on 
Great casting with a 13 foot rod though, I was casting an unweighted mulie about 40-50m, I reckon if I had more line on the reel I could have a got a lot further.
