I caught a carp on a lure made of rolling some foil around the line just above the hook. I ripped the foil down the first 5mm at the top front and made a bib. It actually had a pretty good action I needed yabby bait. |

No pics of the lure? Top work though, I didn't think carp took lures very often. |

I don't know what a sand yabby is, so I'm guessing no. And no pic. You don't often see a carp on a brag mat in Australia Mrs Bullwinkle took a pic as I was landing it in the net, but you cant really see the lure, but just picture mashing some foil onto your line and then folding a bit down The action was pretty good because it was so easy to adjust. It was ...maybe... 25mm long and 6mm thick, with a single hook trailing just behind it. I swum it near the surface about 10cm deep and just as I saw the carp following it, I accelerated it as if it was scared and the carp got aggressive. There were two carp looking at it which is probably why it worked. ie competition makes for risk taking. I've never heard of anyone catching them that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a thing, because it was so easy. It only took a few casts, but I did know where they were because I could see the water being disturbed. |

It turns out fishing for carp on lures is a thing... I just joined a fly fish club I think.. (I'm yet to be accepted) and they plan on removing a stack of carp within the next few weeks. |
