Mine seems pretty stable. Have not stood up in yet, but I'm sure I'll be able to.

I've now bitten the bullett and bought the last of the kayak's needed to get all the family out. Got a Viking Tempo Fisherman 2. Now that is a pretty big yak and I imagine will be extremely stable.

I got it second hand, but here is a link to the Viking site to show the one I got.

I have a question for you hobie and general kayak owners. How stable are they for people with no experience of such things?

I was going to ask about the speed with the hobbies and the funny underneath peddle paddle things, but just watched an online video and looks like they are fairly fast and powerful.

Stability is partly the kayak and partly the person in it. There are all sorts of fishing kayaks, some are more stable than others, generally though the more stable you are, the slower you go.

With mine, I could never stand up in it to fish but sitting down it is completely stable for me, I have never come out of it unintentionally and the time I have intentionally dived out of it, it is pretty easy to get back into. There have been a couple of times in very big waves coming from multiple directions that I have come close though.

The Mrs initially went on and on about stability when we got the kayaks, she wanted to get one that is more stable but now is completely comfortable with the revo and is thankful she didn't go a big slow tank.

As for speed, the hobie fins are about the same as if I was paddling it, or faster maybe. The difference is I can go all day on the fins but start to tire with the paddle.
