I know its a bit cold but im itching to throw a line in.
Anyone been out around Perth lately and know whats biting.

I have no boat so anywhere i can drive/walk to would be awesome.

i used to get out a bit last year but since living in Qld for so long i have no idea where decent spots are. I used to goto the jetty behind the coogee cafe a fair bit in summer and got heaps of squid.

Herring and small salmon, caught about 2 dozen herring today and a couple of small salmon about 35cm... Beautiful day out there... We were in a boat, but I imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to catch them from shore in similar areas.

You could try somewhere like the southern end of Henderson, there's a nice quiet little spot there you can get to rocks above some ok water.

Ahh herring. Dont mind them at all. My great uncle taught me to catch them as a kid with lamb and squid peices in cornflour down in busselton.
I think i might have a go for them.
What were you using for bait for those?

Mosy packet baits fro the shop will be ok. I'd say prawn best, squid will stay on the hook longer, I usually use herring from the last trip!
Goodluck!!!

once the herring are on the bite, use a blob float with a looong leader down to a fluoro tube on a hook. you will catch the bigger ones this way and a lot more fun with no bait needed
