I was wondering if anyone has had problems growing watermelon or cantaloupe (muskmelon)? I planted these plus cucumbers at the same time. The cukes are doing great (vines are over 4 feet long) and have started producing fruit, while the watermelon and cantaloupe aren't growing and are only a few inches long.

In my experience, the watermelons tend to fail to set flowers for the first few months, then go crazy right at the end of the season. Cucumbers are the opposite, go well early on then fail towards autumn. |

These plants aren't even growing....they look the same now as they did 2 months ago. No new leaves. They look healthy...as so the rest of my plants in the system. Maybe it's a new bonsai variety!

Hi, By accident, I grew watermelons in my growbed. A friend gives me rotten fruits and veggies which I dig in my growbed for the worms to eat. The melon seeds grew. Amazingly, I have one in my 1 cu. ft aquarium which I use as display in agri events. It has a 5 dia. fruit now and still growing. I can also see some more small fruits too. |

I have not been able to get any watermelons. The plant grow fine, but the fruit either cracks or gets mushy. I think it may be that they are getting to much water, so this next season I am going to lower the water level in a grow bed and see if they do better. |
