What crops would you grow in a tropical AP system that you couldn't grow down south without heat?

Nice thread Stu, I've looked into this a little, other than the obvious like paw paw, guava, pineapple and banana (all of which can grow in other areas, just not as well), there are a couple that I have my sights on. One is lychee and the other is miracle fruit.

I have worked on farms and export market gardens as well as processing plants like Edgles
To me anything you have to pay a fortune for at Coles or Woolworths was normally throw in the bin,
I want what I normally eat at a better quality and better price than I have to pay for now!
It literally makes me sick to walk through the so called fresh food section of a supermarket knowing that everything on the shelf is reject produce from export markets!

What are the average highs and lows Stuart?

Miracle fruit... Though a niche market can be great. My plants are mature now (after 5 years)and bloom all year. Fruit is expensive ($1/berry), plants are expensive and they can only be grown from fresh seed. I'll give you guys some hints for these if you get some. It took me a few years to get them really happy.

I would be a little concerned about the Durian! Many places in China BAN Durian being opened. It's that "special" aroma you know!

Mind you, once you get over that ( breathing out when you ingest helps!) the taste is, hmmm how to describe?

I had them growing in the dirt for a year, and they did nothing. No growth, no nothing. And eventually, they just dropped the leaves and died.

Any hints would be great! Did you get them in a media bed with coffee grounds surrounding them?

Are the fresh fruit any different from the dried tablets you can get?

Highest is 37.8. Lowest is 7.9.

Depending on the variety but I am generally a convert and love the stuff. I don't get the smell issue with it, taste I can agree could be difficult for some but I love the aroma.
