Has anyone grown or tried it? Morinda Citrifolia grows a fruit called Noni fruit. Apparently it smells and tastes discusting but has some remarkable health benefits. Usually grown in tropical areas like tahiti. Pacific Islanders have enjoyed the health benefits of noni fruit for over two thousand years. Without any sophisticated or advanced technologies, they have relied on the noni plant for many medicinal uses. The modern medical world has taken note of the many benefits of the noni plant. Noni juice is high in vitamin c and antioxidants, and is said to strenthen the immune system, building resistance against disease. It also supports the natural function of the digestive system and improves nutrient absorption. The presence of active compounds such as anthraquinones and terpenes helps the body to fight harmful bacteria and fungus and provides nutrients that are essential to skin health and are beneficial to hair. It is said also that concentration is increased, performance maximized and mental clarity enhanced. Attachment: noni.jpg [ 9.95 KiB | Viewed 4803 times ] |

i tried it a few times in Hawaii - tastes like absolute crap. I hung out with a bunch of hippies living in caves on the north shore of kauai a while back. One of them had been trying to heal a tropical ulcer with it (topically and internally) for 2 months with no success. He eventually got knocked down by a nasty staph infection and got it cured with antibiotics in hospital. I have a picture of my wife 10 seconds after eating it in Bali - Not game to post it on the interweb though!!! Imagine the face you pull after taking a big glug of really rank homebrew spirits and multiple by 10 - I think the biggest plus is it must improve your will power and resolve if you can eat the stuff regularly ! |

Its native to Australia in the tropics. Quote: One critic has described the smell as being reminiscent of a strong Roquefort cheese after soaking in a urinal Quote: The taste is actually something like a strong blue-veined cheese mixed with hot mustard. The last time I was in Darwin, I saw advertised a salad dressing made by blending Cheese Fruit and Macadamia Nuts. It was selling like hot cakes to the tourists! http://www.sgapqld.org.au/bushtucker12.html |
