I have managed to sprout some seeds from an Intense Tomato (probably TM) as sold by coles/woolies, the not so sloppy tomatoes for sandwiches..

Has anyone else tried these in AP?
Or at least know wether they are a vine or a bush?
I havn't found any info on the net about them, but did hear that bigW or kmart or maybe even coles or woolies was putting them out as seedlings at some point..

Rearranging some GBs and trying to decide to put it near a trellis or not..

I bought some similar tomatoes to try them not long ago. Weren't called intense, but they were a "no juice" tomato, "won't make your sandwiches go soggy"..

Wasn't impressed much by the flavour or rather lack of. But interesting what a difference marketing makes, there are many different "paste" type tomatoes and I guess in reality that's what these are, a paste tomato that they are marketing to the fresh market rather than canning and bottling markets.

Also, the problem with growing Hibreds from seed is that they generally revert to what ever the parent stock was. In the tomatoes case, little juicy tiny toms. If you can get hold of a plant you should be able to strike some cuttings. Good luck!

A not so sloppy tomato sold at the stupidmarkets ? They are all dry and bland

Have got a couple of them going so will wait and see what happens.. The tallest one looks kind of viney so i've put them near the trellis.. If they don't turn out then no great loss..

I don't recall them being too bad, as far as supermarket tomatoes go.. Hopefully the way they're grown will improve them a little..

I would have to agree. home grown - well what is there to explain? We've had a few bad 'tomato' years so hope you do better than us!
