Could have eaten all 25 of them but only harvested 4. Waiting now till they have a few weeks of good feeds when the water warms up, so they fatten up a bit

We've been catching these all winter Charlie. Now to make some creamy garlic sauce

My mum claims the best fish she ever ate was at a boat shop's garage in Port Morsbey. It was pegged to a clothes line, guts and scales and all, and hit with a blow torch for a bit, expertly adjusting the distance to get the heat right.

The owner of the boat shop claimed it kept the juices in.

Mum agreed.

I've never tried it, but I have cooked what are now aquarium fish (things like Nemo) caught with a bent pin and some bait ) , on the rocks on a fire made of newspaper and Twisties* packets, and eaten whole once crunchy.

It's funny the way we cook (and some eat) things like prawns whole, and in tact, but we always gut fish.

Lots of lactose intolerant peoples eat deep fried fish crunchy so they can eat the bones and get a much needed hit of calcium. Small whole fish deep fried to crunchy are delicious.

(*actually I cant really remember what kind of trash we used on our fire, but there was lots of yummy plastic )

I've had sea mullet cooked the traditional aboriginal way over the coals gut n all, and I have to say it really does keep all the juices in

The little fish were caught with the local kids when I was about 5 years old (they were about the same age) 30 odd years before Nemo got a name.

If it's the cooking on burning plastic that disturbs, I agree.

And if it's the eating Nemo bit that disturbs... well... it seemed like the right thing to do at the time

I guess it's all kind of disturbing.

But the world seemed infinitely stranger when I got to Adelaide, and everyone was wearing shirts and shoes in the middle of summer (even at school), everyone ate something called meat and three veg all the time, and nobody knew their neighbours

The yabb's around here pretty much go off the bite during winter. Combine that with the fact that most of the tracks I take are only accessable during the dry season.
