Hello everyone,

New to this, but well and truly addicted already.

Have bought my first component of my first system,a 1900 lt fish tank.

Now searching for grow beds,,,probably use 250 lt blue barrels cut length ways,to make about 8 grow beds to get things rolling.

Upgrade my grow beds as money/time permits.

Anyways, hello again, and any tips or dont do's would be helpful.

kind regards Dave

G'day and welcome. 8x 250lt growbeds will give you about a 1:1 GB:FT ratio which over time has become pretty acceptable as long as you don't go over stocking. It would be advisable to look into stocking densities:growbed volume which is well talked about in this forum

Hi and welcome, :wave1:
Have a look at IBC's for GBs. If you mean 8 GBs from 4 barrels that is 8-900 Liters of filtration which is not much stocking power compared to the size tank you have. Also you have three to 4 times the pipework to get them all going. Barrels are great and might fit your avail space better etc. Ibc tanks are square and simple. What you save in barrel cost will cost you in connectors. Hope that doesn't sound negative - whatever you decide - enjoy!

Hey Davo, if you want IBC's for a fair price, Beeps Auto Pro in Breen street sometimes has them for $165 and they have only had truckwash in them... easy to clean and iv used them with no issues.

Although it is difficult you should be able to find IBC's alot cheaper than that. I found some for around $100 whilst we were still in drought. Now that we arn't in drought the mind set has moved away from trying to store rainwater so should be easier.

Try the local aggy dealers as they would get in some damaged ones that they cant send back. I got two for free doing that

Everywhere seems to be selling them at the moment, my local hardware is even selling them, from memory between $100-150. Don't quote me on that though.
I had a guy down in Mornington that I bought mine from for around $100 each. Not sure if he is still selling them and don't remember where I got his details from. Not sure if it was on here or not.
