Found the forum yersterday (which was two days ago for the forum) spent hours reading posts and decided this has ME written all over it. So let me begin by asking a stupid question, then I'll get on with the real questions. Can the FT support Flounder? (Wife's question, since she loves flounder) I think I kinda know the answer to this, being not and expect the plants to live,,, Now to the important questions. I haven't seen many in ground FT's is there a reason for this? Living in an area that get's to maybe -10C and snow (today as I type this we have a good 30-40cm of snow ont he ground, hopefully last storm of the year,,, I would like to build a greenhouse around the AP setup that I will be throwing together this Spring. Below ground FT seems like the thing for me simply because it'll keep the water warmer in the winter. I was also considering heating the water to a) warm the GH and b) keep fishies happy - haven't seen much about this. ideally solar water heaters. Is there a general guidelines thread? so much to learn, so little time to learn, as my AP will be cycling by July. |

howdy from another northeast ohioan! whereabouts are you? no question is stupid unless you don't ask it flounder is a salt water fish, not very many plants (at least edible) will grow with salt water, stick with fresh water fish i'm growing yellow perch and blugill in my basement this winter, catfish would work, but my better half is allergic to them so out of the question for me i brought half of my (first) outdoor system inside this winter and modified it, using flourescent lights, pretty happy with growth now that i've figured out a few things that work our weather provides some challenges for sure, there's a guy in the orwell area that is doing yellow perch and bluegill in a greenhouse year round (this is his first winter with ap) tilapia would need mucho heat added, but would work for a short summer growing season |
