hi everyone, iv been kicking around here for a while, on and off, watching things go by. I thought it was probably time to register and get more involved! my Girlfriends dad some how came across aquaponics a few years back and we both looking into joel's older information and dvd's etc. FINALY we are getting close on out first system. its going to comprise of a bath tub GB and a bunnings tub pond, where we hope to be able to grow yabbies and hopefully some fish (probably start with carp) just last night and today i was looking into the auto syphons etc and actually built a very quick soft drink bottle affnan sypyhon which worked great! we were pretty impressed actually... taking time to show and explain it to out friends who were here for dinner. so we hope to use this in out first system. the second system we have planned will be 4 separate bath tubs as the GB's returning to (possibly) a 5000L ex milk vat. we're hoping that the milk vat will keep a more stable temperature with the hot and cold climate we have. anyway, hopefully i can get some pic's up soon. both systems have been started, but just need to be finished! |

thanks for the welcome guys! were actually planning to have 3 or four systems eventually, but we want to get the first one rolling first. Once its ironed out we hope to make the larger one and then hopefully a smaller residential one for my house, with the grow bed on the deck and tank underneath in the shade. anyway, ill try get some photos up soon of our progress! jamey: had a flick through your thread! im super impressed with your dedication and the way you make things you come across work well in your system, quite inspirational!! my brother lives in strathdale bendigo, so maybe one day when im over that way i could come have a gander? |
