hi all my name is ken i live in wagin.this is a wheat and sheep town of about 2500 people and a lot of sheep.its half way between perth and albany.looking forward to learning about misstakes not to make from you guys out there. two questions is it better to have 2 or3 smaller set ups or one large one. also what fish are suitable for down here,as it gets bl!!!yhot in summer and can drop to-2 in winter.

Welcome Ken - don't worry about the mistakes - you learn more that way !

You have two options; barra in the summer and trout in the winter, or, silver perch all year round.

I would certainly go for the one big system. The more water a system has in it, the more stable it is against temperature and pH fluctuations.

G'day from up the road. Have a look through my thread....Rick's 6 bed, 3000L, and Nocky's....Nocky Finally gets Serious, 6000lt System, and then you might have to come and have a look.

I would go for the one big system unless you want to do a bit of experimenting. The advantage of one is only one set of pump/s. Go as big as you can afford, don't push the limits, ask and listen to the advise on this forum and you "should" be pretty right. Best of luck and have fun.

I'd go for 2 big systems, and a quaranteen system and a yabbie system. Bugger it just fill up the entire yard

Welcome mate, a small system is good to do your learning curve on. And trust me its a steep curve and you'll be ready to expand and go to a bigger system in under 6 months. On the other hand a larger system is more stable and controlable and there for more room for error and easier learning curve. Good luck!

Yep, if you start with a small one you can use it for quarantine later for your larger system.
