Hi,

New to this whole aquaponics world and eager to get start but holding myself back by starting a small setup before investing into bigger designs.

I am looked at the three barrel design of Sump, 2 grow beds and fish tank with the flood / drain technique.

I am wanting to start with yabbies or silver perch so I am seeking advice which is the better way to go regarding continuous flow, Flood and Drain etc. Obviously I am searching through this massive wealth of knowledge there is here.

Cheers

Welcome aboard
Lots of valuable information to be found on the forum
If you look under the General section > Useful Information and FAQ this is a good start.
You will find that there are a few basic principals of AP but everyone will put a slightly different slant to the setup according to their Environment, skills, resources and budget. So my advice is read all you can, sketch your design and post it to the forum for scrutiny. There are heaps of members that have the experience of hindsight and trial and error.
Be warned AP is addictive

Awesome! I have these plans for the barrel one which is a good starting point. I will be starting on the missus turtle tank with Tulips and Lillums since after reading this site I probably shouldn't be using the water on the strawberries plants.

Next I'll move to a bigger setup to have some eatible fish and vegetables like yabbies and silver perch and barra....fun fun fun...

Thanks for your advice...

welcome BlackDuck

since discovering AP about 6 months ago I am well and truly hooked. just have to find my 1000L tank on the cheap or wait until we've got $450 to get the one from BYAP.

good luck with your system, hope you have as much fun planning the big one after you success with the barrel--ponics
