Hey folks,
I am new both to this board and to aquaponics. I have helped with some larger scale operations in the past and have decided to try one in my living room.

I have entirely too many fish and entirely too many fish tanks, most of which have entirely too much light on them, so I thought I would give it a try.

Currently I am building a small "test set up" that will be a single tray holding 7 plants on a small tank. Once we have our design figured out, we will put at least 6 trays (about 10 plants each) on to a 210 gallon tank.

We plan to grow lettuce and spinach for now, but hope to expand to other things including snow peas and green beans when we are ready.

I have lettuce and spinach seeds sprouting in some soil right now and will transfer them in a week or two.

Welcome Karen... look forward to seeing things evolve...

P.S... you can never have too many tanks... or fish.... just too few growbeds...

Yep sounds like time to get the nitrates working for you rather than causing you work doing water changes

Thank you.

the first grow bed is going fantastically. I am a little shocked at how fast the stuff is growing.

I have some lettuce and a random cucumber (I think) in the first bed.

I germinated using some old peat that I had used last year and a random seed germinated out of it. I think its a cucumber.

More beds will be built soon now that the first "design" version is going.
