Hello everybody. Good day. I have no system built yet. I am so happy to be around here. I am lurking the forum for quite awhile. I am still waiting for my DVD package to arrive so maybe I will have an idea on how to start my project. I hope to see pictures from those members in the Philippines. I wish I can just buy one and I will just add water, fish and seeds but there is no such thing here like the Backyard Aquaponics shop.I have to get my feet wet and my hands dirty!!!I really need to sort and look for the materials myself... Thank you guys for your kind attention. Abey |

Hay there Abey, Welcome!!!! I understand the wish for a BYAP in the local area. We don't have one here either. That said, if you do some extra reading on here, you can design and build a pretty good system on your own. I highly recommend making sure you have read the Basic Info section and the Useful Info section here on the forum. Those will help you pick up much of the info you need to know. Then pick out a few of the longer member systems threads to read through completely. If you already have some ideas about the system you want, let us know, we might be able to aim you at some member system threads that are similar to what you want and this can help you out. I have to say that I picked up a couple Rubbermaid stock tanks lately at a pretty good price and I think some fairly good systems could be built using just the 100 gallon tanks and if one wants to go a bit bigger, the 300 gallon tanks are pretty good too. I'm using two of those 100 gallon tanks as grow beds right now. They are extra deep but I think that is kinda a good thing. Anyway, welcome and looking forward to your future systems. p.s. you don't have to wait till you have a system to start getting help with it. You could even start a system thread in member systems with a picture of where you will put the AP system, what size space you have to work with and what materials you have to work with and people are often eager to help you from there! |

Thanks for the warm welcome TCLynx. I will do as you advise but I want to start small so I can experiment. My hot houses are all damaged now by super typhoons. I know some parts of Florida get a share of tropical storms like we have here but I am not sure if you are experiencing it at your location. I want to have it at the back of my clinic. A small space, although it does not get a full sun but a leafy veggie may do well. I've been experimenting hydroponics there and was doing fine. Then I will expand it to my hot houses. Aquaponics maybe a reason to repair it. Horticulture plastics are all imported in the Philippines so it is very expensive here. I have to save up really to repair it. Thank you once again. Great website you have out there. Hope to see your dream house built!! |

Starting small is a good idea. If you search for the Barrel Ponics Manual that might be a good way to start small. I think you can download it from here somewhere. I think there is a links and downloads section on the forum where it is located. Yea, ok found it. http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29 Only think I would advise changing about a barrelponics system is use something better than a barrel for the fish tank. I can never see the fish in a barrel very well. |

I think I need time to digest all of these... |

Just a point before you start to build get a firm picture of what you are going to do Then sit back and think and think again because its easier to do it once only How many of us have built a system and then think [if i add another bed here ]cant fit it in all pipes glued ect you know what i mean After 3 years i still am adding and planning |

Thanks food&fish!!!I am patiently scanning all the members system here. I feel like watching a movie as events unfold. I guess I will not come out with a perfect setup but just a working setup. |
