Newbie here...

Been reading this and other sites for some time and finally took the plunge a few weeks ago! Have a decent background in dirt gardening and have had a water garden for several years... Only in the last 12 months have I learned you can do both.. together for fun and possibly profit. Most excited about fresh fish and veges in mid-winter and educating my neighbors and family to a better/sustainable option in food production!

I started with building a Barrelponic system with some spare parts I had around here... Have several large goldies from my water garden happily paddling around and a dozen plants started. Has been cycling for a week +... Used gunk and water from the water garden filter, so it is off to a running start. Laying out a greenhouse and designing a bigger system to go in over the coming months... More in member systems as I ask design questions and get input from the wise council on here.

Thanks for leading the way.

Peace,

Pete

Welcome, we love pictures

If you haven't already, the top sections of the forum are a good read (basic info and useful info) and should get you off to a good start understanding the basics. Then pick a couple or so long member system threads to read start to finish and hopefully save yourself from making any of the mistakes we have already made.

Good Luck with your project!!!!!

I'm between Charlotte and Columbia... Little town called Winnsboro.

Keep in touch. May have to get together later... When I'm looking for some fish stock... LOL!

TC, been all over this site and several others as well as multiple books! Reading several threads right now! Learning tons just eavesdropping on the many conversations this place has had!

Thanks.

Pete
