Hi everyone, glad to have found this forum. I just learned about aquaponics and I'm just absorbing the information. I have a small backyard vegetable garden (with soil), but I'm already thinking about where I might be able to install some tanks and pipes.

Synaptoman sent me here, said this forum has the smartest and most helpful people in the world, or something like that!

Hi and welcome. Added benefit to starting an AP system. You can use some of the water for your dirt garden, good and nutrient rich!

Good Luck, you got lots of reading to do!!!!!!

Well, after 2 years of 'thinking about it' I've finally taken the plunge. I have a 110 gallon tank with a 24 sq-ft grow bed now. I'm on week #2 of 'fishless cycling', and I've already met someone who lives close to me that is going to give me their goldfish to get started. The nitrite levels are just not starting to rise, so I guess the bacteria is starting to work. I'm reading up on this forum and learning lots of good info.

Hi Brian,

It's Good to have more Texas APer's and Local to North Texas too....

your system should be all cycled up, and going good, just in time for spring planting.................

I hope so, maybe for once I'm ahead of the game! My wife didn't understand why I built the aquaponics BEFORE I finished the fence, but I have my priorities correct.
