Hi everyone. Thank you so much for this site. I'm a total newbie and I've been reading like crazy. I built a simple 30 gallon system to try and get some experience... and so far my experience has shown that I'm extremely proficient at killing plants and fish. I'm hoping that I can get past the harbinger of death phase and confident enough to build a 300 gallon system with trout or tilapia by spring (license permitting). Here's a picture of the system: ![]() 30 gallon fish tank with expanded clay container beds. The top containers are my DIY LED growlights that cycle red/blue/green (It's winter here). |

The LED "grow" lights are simple kids nightlights that have the change color mode already on it. http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100770&navAction=jump&navCount=0&nug=VPD&skuid=sku2401820&id=prod2402342. I just took the cover shield off and then drilled a hole in the top of the container. |
