hello all from Southern California.
just starting out in AP, and i have to admit this was a QUICK addiction for me. lots of good stuff in this forum! I'm an avid aquarium keeper, and have been around organic backyard gardening for years but only know some of the basics. So, when i heard, and found more than one account of this claim, that one could actually raise fish to eat and have a nicely performing natural garden, i became estatic and decided to give it a try.

my first setup (pictures posted) is a proof of concept for myself and my better half, who likes the idea, but asthetics is important, so i can't just repurpose rooms in our home/garage/patio for AP until she's assimulated. This is a small 20l tank/35l GB setup, but i do have an established, non-AP, 230l aquarium in the other room that can be used to rescue fish if needed. The GB is shallow 4 inches of medium, with 3" flood level to make the GB light weight. The system does not have to be super productive, just want to learn the basics. I have the option of using my established tank to cycle the system instead of starting with fish.

I may start another indoor AP node sooner than later if i can figure out a few specific concepts regarding bacteria efficiency vs temperature etc... but these will wait for another post.
