Hey my name is Daniel and I live in the Swan Valley in WA.
I have been into Aquaponics for about a year or so after spotting the guys setting up a system at City Farm in East Perth.

My first system that i set up was meant to be a cheap trial to see if i could get the hang of things. After reading plenty of posts on the forum and whatever else i could get my hands on from on line i thought why not jump in the deep end and have a go.
The system consisted of a 1000Ltr tank, 6x 220Ltr storage tubs and a 3000lph pump feeding some basic 19mm retic pipe (see pics below)
The tank saw the addition of 20 black brim (av. 150mm) and the tubs (growbeds) were planted out with a range of green leafy vegies.
Cycling of the system and the early onset of winter saw tha loss of most of the black brim and so rainbow trout were introduced along with 20 or so marron.
The plant growth was a little slower than expected though it was over winter but the trout thrived and grew to a heathy size.
Overall the system was quite successful.

About two months ago I moved into a new house and saw the oppertunity to expand my system as there was a perfect coverered area at the rear of the house.
I purchased two new grow beds with stands from Joel and Faye along with 20 od bags of expanded clay (well worth the money, heeps easier to work with).
It was just at the end of winter and the trout was ready for harvest and so that was taken care of before moving the tank. The marron were moved in an eski.
So the new system was set up. The beds were planted out. The Marron got a new home. 20 new barramundi fingerlings added to the system.
Only 8 weeks down the track and the results are amazing (see pics below)

looking forward to seeing the results that a warm summer will bring

Welcome Lawry, and I love the system, something is surely going right for you down in Perth, maybe the Barra. Excellent take off from the starting post. The best of luck in the future

They do seem to grow better under cover. Maybe filtered light is also an advantage.
