Hi I just joined in. Name is Virgilio Leynes from Manila Philippines, retired accountant looking for something worthwhile to spend my lots of free time. While surfing about "gardening", which is my hobby, I stumbled upon AP. I hope to learn through this forum and pass on the knowledge most especially to the poor families in my country that need this kind of technology so badly.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the welcome. I am presently here in New Jersey visiting my daughter and will likely stay for about six months. Luckily, she has a small kidney shape pond in her backyard with four goldfish. Surprisingly, the fish have endured several winters and have been left to fend for themselves. They probably subsist on algae and some kind of a plant growing in the middle of the pond. I will try some experiment on AP using this pond and as soon as I get started will send pics in another thread. Thanks again.

VirLey

Welcome Virley!

I have three goldfish that lived in an unattended 90 gallon pond over the Winter. The pond froze over about three times completely, and I didn't feed them and they didn't have a pump or aeration or anything. A good addition for it would be to have some low wide container of gravel and just pump up to it and let it drain right back over/down to the pond. This is an easy setup to get started growing things.
