Hi gang I'm Baton Rouge Bill and have been lurking thu this site for 6 months now and I think I have learned a treasure trove from your forum. I have read over so many valuable threads I think I can do this now. I have a 75 gallon aquarium in my living room with a gold fish and an Oscar and I am going to try tubing up some hanging baskets of everbearing strawberries in my front window. I also turned some channel cats and blue gills loose in my above ground pool over the winter. The cats didn't survive but the blue gills are thriving. My girls want the pool back so I'm building a barrelponics setup on my patio to put them in. They are going to feel like they're in prison in a 55 gallon drum. I have a 10 x 12 greenhouse to revamp also so, wish me luck!

My barrel system is circulating and I siphoned the pool down to 18" and tried to catch the bluegill with a cast net and haven't been able to catch a one! I am green with slime and and feel like a young bear just learning to fish:  I bought a 600gph pump to finish draining the pool. I will try again when the water is about 4" deep so those fast little suckers won't be able to get away as easy. Without any greens in the growbeds I'm not sure if I should plant some large plants in it to be able to handle the Nitrates. I may change 5 gallons per day until I get enough greens.

BB ,,I ve been meaning to mentionb it here ..... why not hace a net in the tank from the beginning ,, all the fish are in the tank , therefore in the net ,, raise net and grab fish ,, lower net and the rest are happily swimming again.
P.S use knot-less net to reduce scale damage.
