Post subject:  Plan for my system

Hi Gang

Loving all the tips and tricks on the site! I'm new to AP - my mate has a nice backyard setup and I am looking to do something similar. My site is quite constrained, however, and I want to incorporate the system into the landscaping. I will be cladding the whole thing in timber, so I want to keep it quite compact and straight - hence the slightly wonky looking vessel layout.

Its planned to have ~750L FT on the right, going from the SLO into ~50L RFF, then back to the ST on the left. pumping up into 3x 240L growbeds - 1 DWC (in the middle) and 2x flood and Drains. I think I can have about 15-18 fish ...

Both main tanks will be IBCs - I'll leave the whole cage in tact, and cut the tanks down about 200mm to allow for space to fiddle with pipes, taps etc. I'll also aim to put a venturi on the FT return and a 'flyscreen in the laundry basket'-style filter in the sump, directly under the drain from the RFF. I'm not CAD skilled enough to add taps, but I plan to be able to isolate the RFF and each of the GBs separately.

I'd be really grateful for feedback, particularly on:

what stupid stuff have I left out or added unnecessarily?

system sizing - is the balance OK?
piping sizes - 50mm from FT - RFF - ST; 25mm up to GBs - 25mm drain on DWC and 20mm on the bell siphons.
pump size - I'm thinking something like 4900Lph, but not sure if this is overkill or not.

I believe I can have correct flow through the RFF if I have the outflow about 20mm below the water level in the FT - is this adequate, or does it need to be higher?

I also think I would normally have something like 300L in the ST at the low point, and about 440L at high point - is this adequate to chuck a few yabbies in there?

Cheers

Seems like a fairly solid plan. I'd aim more towards a3000 l pump that would be more than enough. And yes, so long as you provide hides yabbies will be happy in there.
