Hello everyone! Some-what of a newbie here. Got into aquaponics by way of hydroponics. I have ran some successful backyard Hydro setups in the "winter" months down here (non-rainy season) but have yet to do my first Outdoor Aquaponics System. I have a simple constant flow setup in my office which I use to grow some herbs in. Runs off 9 feeder fish at the moment in a 10 gallon aquarium with a 7 gallon grow bed that is about 6" deep with 5" of media and about 3.5" of it being wet. I have been told by various people that is too many fish... Well, they all seem to be doing well (some growing faster than others) and my plants are doing AMAZING. So I'm going to keep using this as a "Test" system if you will, until something goes wrong. Glad to finally find a place to discuss stuff instead of just poking around Google and YouTube... Looking to build and backyard system in my screen in lanai. Any guidance to good builds on here would be much appreciated! |
