Hello , I am in Oklahoma. I am interested in aquaponic farming with goldfish. I am about to raise goldfish and am looking for sustainable systems to work with them. I currently have a 35 x 35 foot open garage that i am going to convert to a greenhouse. I have 6 300 gal tubs for goldfish. am looking for ideas for the gardening part. I have plenty of room to do whatever i need. just need ideas. Thankyou Teresa

Hi Teresa,

what you describe is very easiy done - particularly with goldfish.
6x 300 Gal (1150 litre) tubs will be fine and will hold around 15-30 larger goldfish.
In a breeding situation where you are on-selling juveniles at around 2" you will be able to have many more.

The challenge will be in the breeding itself. Take a look at Colums page > viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19967
The goldfish breeding section is around page 88 onwards, though there is some material around page 80 or so.
Colum also covers many aspects of the plant options.

Beyond that what do you have in mind for grow beds and plants ?
Your options are basically large media beds with plants or troughs and rafts with filters.
or a combination of these. Plants will mostly help determine what might work best.
What sort of media would you have access to and how much do you want/can afford to spend on media?

I guess Oklahoma is going to have some pretty cold winters so that will be a factor as well.

The other aspect is that vegies are an obvious option, but it is also posisble to grow other plants.

Ok, here's something to consider. https://www.havemoreforless.com/forum/m ... ystem-iavs A simple to operate AP system with a wide range of vegetables you can grow. Google iAVs for additional information. It does work as advertised.
