Hello! I'm new to the installation and design of an aquaponic system, but have been reading about the principles and science for quite some time. In addition, I'm a huge advocate of sustainable agriculture, local food, and clean eating.

Some background, I run a non-profit in Indiana focused on re-purposing abandoned spaces for food production, teaching people to grow and care for their own food, and installing community gardens.

Recently, we became connected with a few orphanages in Uganda and are very interested in the creation of an aquaponic system specifically for their locale. They have access to native Tilapia, IBC totes, PP tanks, and almost anything you can think of locally. Our hope by coming here is to get some feedback on system plans and see if there is one version that may serve our purposes better than another.

Our hope is to start small, but with a system that can easily expand and scale larger. Anyway, I'm looking forward to some great conversations! If there is anyone that does this type of work already, we would love the opportunity to partner with you in this effort! Thanks!

Hi Jr3! I'm researching a very similar topic! I'm very curious about aquaponics use as a means to freedom and independence in the developing world. How as your work progressed? Have started a system, and if so, have you been finding it beneficial? Thanks so much!
