Post subject:  New to aquaponics in northern North Dakota

Hello everyone I am new here and starting my first aquaponics system in my basement. I live in northern North Dakota so our access to good fresh produce is limited. My family isn't big fish eaters so I am going to use goldfish and try to grow leafy greens and try other fruits and vegetables down the road. Right now I am going to fill the bottom half of my media bed totes with lava rock and then the top half with pea gravel(getting expanded clay in future as funding allows). The two media bed totes are 10gal and I have about 55gal tank capacity between 2 heavy duty totes. The 2 heavy totes are connected with a 3/4" pipe so the water levels out and I am going to use one tote as a DWC and the other as the fish tank. Any advice or comments would be appreciated!! Tried to post a pic but the file is to big.
