Looking to convert our 18'x48" metal frame, 6,400gal pool in to an aquaponics system. The pool would be outdoors and feed a small greenhouse next to it.
Have two 55gal drums and a 55gal glass tank that could be used to raise fry, indoors if needed.
We're in zone 7b, possibly a microclimate of 8a and am wondering if keeping trout year round is a possibility?
Have loads of experience with salt water and freshwater ponds/tanks so learning curve is relatively small bio/mech wise, just hard to find information on outdoor stock on the island.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry on the fish, long way below you in Aust... hopefully Scotty435 will be along soon.
He is not so far away from you.

There are a few threads around about large ponds/pools.
Should be able to find them with the search.
You wont run a system like that as a classic AP - so you will probably need to touch in to some of the non-AP stuff around pool conversion (bio-pools) and low-end aquaculture. But it is all do-able.

good luck with your endeavour.

With a July average maximum of under 23C, you should have no trouble keeping trout all year round. You may need to warm the water a little bit in winter to keep them eating well.
