Hi,
Finally I am an Aquaponian - thanks to all the wonderful information on this forum! You guys really rock!

About my system: I have two systems - one a small 30 ltrs "Proof of Concept" thingy which is just a small growbed slapped on over a small aquarium. You can see the pictures on the International Systems page. The second one I have built two days ago is a single barrel - two tub system with gravel, loop siphon, a 16 watt foutain pump, an aerator and 10 four inch Indian carp fingerlings (these grow to table size in about 10 months - 800 to 900 gms). I had let the carp sit in the barrel for about a month and have attached the grow beds as per a design I saw on youtube (padikkson's channel - many many thanks to him too!) just a couple of days ago. The whole thing cost me the equivalent of about US$ 48 to put together.

This weekeend, I am planning to direct seed cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, Okra, ridge gourd and spinach and see what works best.

Here are some pictures. Hope you like them.

Thanks, Aj,
Am planning to cover it up with black insulation eventually. Just wanted to have the pleasure of seeeing the loop siphon work!! And it works like magic.

Not to take away from your rigid loop siphon! In fact I have been having some problem with that on my smaller system (see post on International Systems). Would apprciate some advice on that. Haven't tried your bell siphon though. Btw - nice design.
Cheers,
KM

Duff: Thanks!
OBO: With the loads of gravel in there, kinda tough to tip it over!! lol. Can't even move the darn thing! Will watch out though.
Jessy: Thanks! That's just one or two of each to see how they work out! This is my first system, remember! Don't mind losing a plant or two. :-)

Also I have plans for a 3 growbed (half barrel each) system in another month or so (highly inspired by RupertofOz). I can always move them there.

KM

Over the past fortnight have been harvesting about a half a kilo a week. Still I see about 20 hanging at any given point in time.

The fishes are down to 5.
