Just wanted to introduce our school aquaponics system. We did 4 grow beds that are 55 gallon barrels cut in half. We used river rock for our grow medium. Our tank is a 100 gallon livestock tank. Our system started great but has now hit some hiccups with our 25 tilapia which were successful for 2-3 months have all di d in the last week. Think we determined the cause but will see. Here are some pics of the early system and then from currrent system. |

Water looks really dirty there but it cleared up pretty fast. |

I wondered if you were hauling water out of the Mississippi river, seemed about the right color |

has the water always been that color ? If so may need some better filtering in the system. also note that the water level seems to be close to the top of the emdia - may be that you need a bit more media. When you restart maybe re-think the tank to barrels and barrel to tank aspects. How are you running your barrel filling and drain cycles ? |

It's already cleared Darren, it was just from the initial setup - Detert10k wrote: Water looks really dirty there but it cleared up pretty fast.
