Hello All.. As is customary I've been lurking and learning for a while and recently decided to build a simple small system to play with.. Just got it up and running yesterday..

Both tanks are lined with non-toxic coating to prevent zinc leaching..

Very basic flood and drain system.. Added 5 perch this morning to get the cycle started..

Started a few seeds last evening so hopefully everything will fall in line over the next few weeks..

welcome to the forum.

Be interesting to see how those containers go.
Zinc can be an issue for fish and members have had an issue with zincalume / galvanised roof water before.
Lots of people here use colorbond steel (powder coated steel).
Maybe the seal will be enough.

Nice big pond in the background.

I imagine that they're similar to these ones and have a coating on the inside

except the dingo ones linked are colorbond not zincalume or galvanised....
I use the colorbond ones like your dingo tank link - no problems.
in a grow bed the liner doesn't stand up to much scratching etc from media.

About half way through the cycle now and getting good indication of Nitrates so added plants!

I am aware that the coating may not stand up and am watching it closely for signs for signs of degradation / friction erosion. Time will obviously be the ultimate judge, but it appears to be holding it own pretty well for these first few weeks.

If the coating does begin to break down or fish mortality becomes an issue, it will be an afternoon exercise to refit with pond liner.
