Hi,

I have been lurking here for a little while and enjoy learning from all the great info posted here.

My wife and I just finished (well, not sure it will ever be finished) building our mini greenhouse around our aquaponics system.

Greetings from Darby Florida!

Don

Hi Don, welcome to the forum :headbang: . How big is your mini greenhouse?

Thanks for the welcome. I'll attempt to attach a picture.

It is 20'X24'. This is a photo taken before all the shade cloth was added.

We beat the cold so far with a couple aquarium heaters in the fish tank.

Looks like a nice greenhouse.
Any pictures of the inside setup?

Looks pretty big for a mini greenhouse Don :? . Granted it's not like some of the mega greenhouse operations in Florida but still not bad :thumbright: (greenhouses seem to shrink as they get farther north so down south that might be a mini but up north it's a midi or a maxi greenhouse) . I second the request for pictures of the inside - Looks like a DWC setup amoung other things.

Hi from a few hours north and east of you.

Can you tell me some more info on the greenhouse (kit or self made, where you got it or the materials, etc...)?

Thanks

It was built from scratch. My neighbor used to build greenhouses for a living. Most parts were purchased locally. The white ground cover came from Growers Supply. The poly and polylock from imperial builders in opopka.

OK.. too much typing on the phone.. The sides of the greenhouse roll up to let air in. There is a fan in the peak to keep are moving. Being in Florida, the sides are up most of the time except the last week when winter decided to show up.

I am fighting an iron deficiency right now. Just added some iron. The system itself is very young and is maturing slower than the plants would like. There are about 25-30 good sized blue tilapia in the tank.

Very nice setup and neatly done :thumbright:. I see what looks like an RFF which should take care of your settleable solids, do you have a filter for the suspended solids going to the DWC setup yet?

Not yet. And I anticipate that being a necessity.

+1 - glad to hear you're already on to getting the filter :thumbright:. A Static Upflow Filter is a good choice for suspended solids filtering.

Regarding the iron deficiency - what kind of iron are you using and how are you adding it (to the system water or as a spray directly on the plants)?

Cheers
