Hey Guys. Names Travis i live in Sandy Utah and just got into Urban Gardening.

I have a very small system setup for my kids to grow and have fun with, But its time to go big i feel.
How ever i cant find a single trout supplier that will even talk to me about getting fish shipped to me.
All i get from them is what my COR # and i say whats that they just say call Division of Wildlife Resources and talk to them.


Joy everyone likes where this is going. im now on my 5th week talking to them and still they say no one is going to give you permission to have anything besides Goldfish or koi.

How is everyone in utah getting them or are we all about to tell the man where to stick it and find a way.

Also nice to meet everyone and please help me.

Looks like they're allowed but every fish in Utah requires a permit from a cursory search.

Relatively old information though being posted back in 2010.

I'd reach out to UDWR for guidelines and licensing costs. If the state is that strict on it, you're unlikely to find a seller willing to risk their license. COR # request seems to confirm this. Check around this part of the site... http://wildlife.utah.gov/utah-licenses/ ... ation.html

Yea we are allowed with a permit but aquaponics is so new that no one has a clue how to define it in the state system and so i have not been able to stock game fish.

At first i was told i have to go take a class at state center for fish. okay sounds fine get a day of work and go for the 3 hour drive and get told your nuts this class is for aquaculture. Took it anyways since that is the primary part of aquaponics.

Call the UDWR and let the same person that told me to take the class i had finish the class and this is my cert #.
She now tells me okay call this number and talk with onsite inspector. So i call Mike this guy hates his job because it just to much for him to drive to my house and see that the fish have no way to get free and enter local water.

So got his boss number call this guy 4 weeks later mike shows up very upset. Get a fine 750$ for my tank being able to drain into ground water.

and after the fine still nothing cant get my Certificate of Registration for my Private fish pond as the state of Utah is call it.

Call his boss mike is no longer with UDWR and a new guy shows up and this guys voids my old fine :)
but lets me know due to new guide lines for the long term storage of game fish a IBC will not work something about the plastic degrading and the fish can die from it.

So now im trashing all my IBC to the side of my house to hold rain water (illegally) danm utah laws.

add building a Plywood frame with pood liners and grow bed the same way will have to replacement for the PVC also.

And that my Hell for the last 5-6weeks with utah. if anyone can help with good people to call pls anything can help at this point

Don't know what to tell you except sounds like you have been to hell with this nonsense UTAH GOV.

If you can have KOI without permits etc... then why not use KOI instead. They can be sold for big bucks. The money you make on koi can buy you a lot of fish you can eat or more equipment for your AP. Koi can provide the same nutrients to the plants as any game fish.

Anyhow...Hope you can sort this out and look forward to following your build.

Well Found the guy in Utah just 20 mins ago that is in charge of aquapoincs and we will be getting are own application in the close future. how ever they dont want you to get any fish that can breed.

So to Everyone in Utah that is getting some hell from utah call Chris Crockett 801-234-9639 great guy will help with your application and can wave the 100$ inspection fee so the first year will only cost 80$ and 30$ each year after. :D :D :D

Being a pain in the local gov side is always fun in the end.
