Okay, so I was hoping someone here could help me grasp the handles of aquaponics. I have been looking to get started, and am hoping to find some help here that can clarify what other websites and youtube videos have left so vague. One thing i should add as a disclaimer is that I do not have a yard, and my system will be setup indoors, the area I currently have set aside for it is rather small compared to the systems I see here, however I am willing to do a bit of re-arranging to find a slightly larger spot. So if anyone is willing to spend time answering questions I have, that will almost certainly be very stupid questions with simple answers, please let me know. |

I'm new myself but will help if possible. I also have a small area indoors that I am thinking about setting up with aquaponics. I have a 5'x12' area that is already set up for indoor gardening for starting seeds and overwintering. I have a 55gal fish tank that has been collecting dust in my garage and a bunch of rubbermaid totes that are possible materials. I also have a ?60gal blue barrel, 4'x4'x7" flood table and swirl filter setup in my front yard that I'm currently getting ready to start cycling for my first fishless cycle. What do you have planned or set up so far? |

My first mini system was set up indoors. 3 16 gal Rubbermaid totes and a 36 gallon tote for a fish tank. I flooded my livingroom becasue the media I purchased floated and pulled up the siphon media guard with it, media got in, and blocked the siphon = flood. Good times! Fortunately I had the foresight to lay down a tarp "just in case" so I avoided any serious damage. Thinks to keep in mind |
