Built a 55x60 barn with greenhouse and canning room on southern end. Greenhouse is 30x 15 and produces all year. Solar power to run the whole place on top of the barn, we raise chickens and cattle, and have an orchard that is fed by 12k gallon rain collection. So now we must incorporate aquaponics into the green house. I have been reading up and will be taking the plunge soon. This forum has been so helpful and I appreciate you all.

Yes indeed, northern New Mexico is beautiful. We're a stones throw from Hermits Peak too. Again welcome to the forum

Hello fellow New Mexicans, I'm up in Aztec and I was hoping to get some information as to how you built your systems for this area, what kind of fish you stock. I'm also in need of some 55gal drum for my filtration system, so if you can help me out there too, that'd be great! I'll be happy to reciprocate if/when I can.

I'm currently working on a modular 4500l (6+IBC chop and flip) system with one vortex filter, biological filter, mechanical filter and a staging tank all from 55 gallon drums.

The type of fish you can raise depends upon what type of system you build. Below ground fish tank is how I went to help stabilize the water enabling us to run trout year round. In the peak of Summer media beds exposed to direct sunlight can warm the fish water considerably. I used reed cloth over the greenhouse the first season, currently we have tomatoes growing over the fish tank providing shade. I checked the water temperature yesterday; 67F with greenhouse temps not going over 80F. Outdoor temps are in the 90s.
I hope this helps
Brian
