Hi to all. I come from a background of home aquarium keeping, up to 17 tanks when I was breeding. Hubby and I are trying to go more sustainable and have been interested in aquaponics for a while. We had one attempt which didn't really turn out that well (neglect for the most part I think). We want to try again.

I have an empty bath tub and a 4ft aquarium with inbuilt sump on one end, as well as unused plastic clam shell sandpit (2 halves). I have various pumps and hoses from my aquarium stuff. Trying to get the time and knowledge together in the one place so we can start. :)

Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

..
Welcome aboard.. you will see a lot on how others have done it on here, but it is sometimes hard to FIND what you light be seeking..

I would suggest that you decide what you want to produce.. PLANTS or FISH

I am convinced that it is far easier to set up a hydroponic growing system based on circulating nutrient laced water, between floating beds and wicking beds etc.. get that wiring first.. Enjoy the produce, and THEN start building the fish production ..

Good luck

Thanks all. I am looking at producing herbs and maybe strawberries inside so happy to use existing fish (If I go back to breeding the fish my house will be over run with tanks again)
