Hi, Im actually buying the materials to start the system in a lil space in my house balcony, I wash a video that says that something really important is the ORGANIC DIGESTER, but i cant find it in any store on my country, there some alternative for that? thanks |

Welcome to the forum Jorge I'd have to see the video and what they were talking about. Most Aquaponic systems don't need a separate organic digester - the grow beds will do this enough that you just don't need another one. There are some reasons to use something like this but very few systems actually need one. If you can describe your system and give us some details about what you're trying to do we can probably tell you if you need it but I doubt you really do. Cheers |

Hi Jorge, Could they be talking about a "liquid" Organic Digester? Like this? http://www.organicdigester.com/ I don't think most folks use stuff like that to get their aquaponics garden going. Although it sounds like a way to jump-start the Nitrogen Cycle: http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/information/the-nitrogen-cycle/ There are a lot of ways to cycle a new system. Colum has a nice video discussing the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS-3AZUjA10#t=11 ¡Buena Suerte! -- Sam |

Start simple along the lines of an ibc system but smaller.. http://ibcofaquaponics.com/ |
