Hello to you all good people of this forum.

I have been interested in aquariums for many years, had several tanks in different sizes, so I have some idea of how to keep fish alive. After I got the first tank set up, I realized quickly it was not large enough, I wanted more, more water and more fish! It happens to most of us who buy that first aquarium, I think.

I am 32 years old, and will be for a little while longer. Two kids, soon 12 years and one 1 year old. They keep me busy. Husband keeps me busy too, but he understands things.

I need him to understand that we need a big setup of AP.

We have a big house on a smaller plot, the plot of land is a bit larger than the house, but not much. We plan to make garden beds on the north side of the house, long and narrow strip, but I think now I need a big fish-tank and grow food in water.

I moved to Australia from Norway two years ago, and quickly found a secondhand aquarium at an 'op'-shop and it now acts like a little grow-food-in-water-project. It is not enough, but at least its a start.

There are so many reasons as to why I want to grow my own food, AP seems like the only way to go for me, and the biggest reason that drives me is : because I want to, and I am not good to remember to water plants. That should be enough, and one day I hope the funds will be there to build something fantastic! This takes me back to why it is important that husband someday soon understands why this is absolutely worth time and effort! He is not negative at all! He lets me poke about with my little set up. Comes over to look at the seeds coming to life and growing, but he isn't as excited as me... yet. Any helpful tips of how to nudge him into the right direction are much appreciated.

It is not a big and fancy setup but it is all mine, and things grow! I'm so excited!

Where in Australia do you call home? Best way I reckon to get him keen might be to show him a properly established system. Basic IBC system can be started cheap and it's not space intensive at all.

Welcome Liniana, There are a few Victorian forum members not too far away from Geelong, so as suggested above, visiting one or 2 of them could be useful to increase your husbands enthusiasm
If you are suffering a lack of available space, sinking the fish tank, and sump if you need one, into the ground and putting the growbeds above them can free up some space.
