Greetings Tasmanian aquaponic growers. I started to work towards a home system 3 years ago. I went and saw 2 systems and that was fantastic help. The outcome, for me was that i wouldn't develop my system despite tanks and plastic house untill I'd seen a system in tassie that was working smoothly for a while. Anyway - thats me. What i would like to suggest is Tassie aquaponic interested people meet to look at someones system and chat. So i am suggesting a meeting in Febuary 2016. On the basis people may not log in often. SUNDAY 7TH FEB 2016 at my place unless we get a better offer. It's in Hobart. I'll put the address in and ph number closer to time. After i check protocols to do that for for the site. So respond only if this is of interest to you. Thanks Whitey.

I'd be interested in attending the meeting. I have an aquaponics system in Huonville.

I'd love to come check out your system. I'm in Hobart and planning my own setup for when I buy a house later this year.

Well, I've just joined the forum and seems I've missed this by a few days.

Did it go ahead? If so, will it likely be repeated?

Cheers,

Ajax.

I have missed this by a long shot. Is there any one currently practicing aquaponics in North/North west?

Well in the end it didn't happen Julie. Two expressions of interest but none of us has a successful system running. So we haven't met. Thanks for contacting. Wish u well. But can't how I can help. I'm still keen to see a sucessful resilient system running in cooler Tassie . Yours Ian and ohh sorry can't answer your question.

Hi Ian, Why are the systems not working. Is it the plants? I would imagine the fish would be an issue, but haven't tackled that yet. Is the system you put together recycled or a commercially produced system.

Two systems I saw used trout and vegies. One was small and new. That was 2 years ago. The other was a serious investment probably 1 ~2 grand all up. They had a smallish glitch and the fish died. Vegetables production was similar to a garden patch. Last time to contacted they had sold it on. Also 2 years ago.
