Post subject:  newbie from Paralowie (South Australia), info please?

g'day people, my father and I are interested in doing a small scale aquaponics setup, we have 2 IBC's which he got from his workplace.

my dad has been a member for some time now, however I have just joined.

so, as I mentioned, we have 2 ibc's ready to go, now all we need is the schematics?? :dontknow:
also, i'm honestly not too sure about this but my dad says to do the setup with only goldfish in the water reservoir and duckweed in the growth medium (just to start it off), then to put veggies in the growth medium and yabbies in the reservoir.

so i'm not sure about any of this, so any advice on how to do this would be extremely appreciated. :wave1:

Welcome guys, up the top of page is IBCofAquaponics. It will give you details of setting up first time easy like.

There are a few others around your neck of the woods who Iam sure will pop in and say hi.

Hi MD & welcome.

definitely the IBC of Aquaponics (read the PDF and watch the video from link at top right this page)

good offer from Colum..... worth taking that up. Might get some free icecream ;-)

with 2 IBC's like you say above you could do 2x IBC Aquaponics - two seprate systems to start and learn with.
Or go a Fish Tank and Sump Tank like these below.... with sump tank you mainly have a CHIFT PIST (constant head in fish tank, pump in sump tank = you fish tank level does not go up and down)

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24235 << answers the basic 2 IBC issue
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23141 << the ultimate IBC/GB setup
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23024 (uses 3 IBC's)
plus lots of others on the forum.

Two IBC's is a good start and leaves lots of options open for things in the future.
