Your request is a little ambitious as it simply asks the unknown.. First place to start would be to go over the "Ibc's of Aquaponics" to see what it is all about.. The 7000L tank could hold a lot of fish, but that is meaningless, as you need a way of processing the waste.. ie. Either removing from the system or having plants use it up..and likely both... The rule of thumb is that you need about 30L of grow-bed media per fish to biologically convert the fish waste.. so it is impractical asking how many fist in a big tank.. Probably, the first question is what is the tank like, as this will suggest how you might use it.. eg.. too deep a tank poses practical issues, and thus a 7000L tank may only end up good for say 4000L Anyway.. much more information is needed, and study what goes into an AP system.. .. . |

Can we see a pic of the tank you got? Where is it positioned? Many of can envision an entire setup from a few helpful pics. Also, let us know what your intentions are, do you want to grow veges to feed your family? If we can see what you want to achieve and what you have to work with, we can give you advice to suit. Hey Bill, Yep as BuiDoi says it's all about the bio filtration which dictates the fish load. So basically if you only have 30 litres of wet media then although you have 7000 litres of water you should only have one fish... Having things like nft, channels and the like don't give you the surface area for the nitrifying bacteria like a good GB does. Start a members build thread and throw your ideas out there, there are plenty on this forum who are more than happy to help and assist. We love photos. Having a look through other members threads is a great way to get ideas that suit your needs also. There have been a couple of people with ap systems on this forum from Tassie in my short time here, they pop in from time to time. |
