Hello from the UK. I've become interested in fish farming ever since learning of how terrible commercial fish farms are and how pollused fish from the ocean are. I realise sardines from the wild aren't so polluted, but I'm still concerned that even buying 'fresh' means a few weels old. I'd just prefer to grow my own. I have many questions and I'm not sure where to ask them, so Id appreciate some guidance- My questions are as follows: - if I grow sardines in my back garden, will the fish contain less omega 3 and nutrients? Are they more nutritious from the wild? Are there any studies exploring this topic? - I'd like to eat a sardine a day. Do I need just one pond or more? Can I get advice on how to grow enough for this to be possibe? - I'm just generally confused about how I should begin farming sardines. Where do I buy the sardines? Do I buy a tank or pond or just dig a pond? Do I change the water? How doea one test for water quality? Thanks! |

Sardines are a slat water fish so not really feasible in the backyard, you could look at trout though.. Read, read, read... Start here http://ibcofaquaponics.com/ Then download some of these free things and read them.. http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/infor ... downloads/ |
