Well hello, I am trying to catch up with the many post and much info on this site. Hopefully, I don't ask too many redundant questions. I am looking for a sticky page site, and reviewing the FAQs as well as printing out the glossary. Step by step, I will try not to be an inconvenient member. I do have a plan that i am trying to pencil out and gather parts for. Sort of a conglomeration of what I have seen lurking about other sites as well as here. I was hoping it would be educational as well as economical but am concerned it wont work as I have not seen it utilized anywhere yet. I am not versed with any drawing /sketching programs/apps and am limited to an Ipad, so i will try to describe this. If anyone can recommend a draw app or warnings to this system before I get too far into it I would sure appreciate it. Pars BYAP System#1: A). 2 IPCs, one to be cut with hinge lid for main fish tank, one to have sides cut off to provide for two deep tanks, with one of those acting as a sump-tank and the other acting as a float grow bed. B). 6 blue barrels, three to be cut longitudinal for grow beds and three to be cut for stands for the grow beds. C). Swirl filter, pump, bell valve, plumbing, hopefully attached to a pv with batt power supply. I haven't found the info on the best fish options for my area, hot summers, cold winters here in Delaware. Nor how many to plan for the 275gal IBC units I have available. I would like to think that with an additional pump I could explore the use of adding a thin film horizontal as well as the vert pvc units, three each with the other grow beds in line. Yes, ok, seems like a wee bit of a do, but as I mentioned, I would like to do this as an educational system for the family as well as a project for myself this summer. It may help keep me away from trying to build a boat?? Har! Sizing the plumbing, routing and such, if anyone could recommend a link would really be great. I must thank Travis for all the info on the barrels, as well as so much here on this site for the IBC usage. Also the YT vid from Zack at New2Torah /N2T was a major inspirational impact. So many others that I should mention, especially Jim F. And everyone here who has contributed and shared so openly. This may not seem like the ultimate KISS system, but for a budget, practical experience in setting up a sort of universal system to learn with, using the materials I have readily available, I think it may prove more fun than frustrating???? I will try to get some pics along the way and join in with Dr. Bees. I keep a few hives myself. I am really glad to have found this site, and everyone one it. Thanks, Pars |

Just take a picture of what you penciled out. Or for an easy way to draw it on the computer use the paint program that is probably in your accessory tab on your start menu. |
