Everyone,

I am still fairly new to aquaponics. Two or three months ago I moved my system outside. This morning I noticed that I have a couple hundred tadpoles swimming around in my raft bed. Is this a problem or is it natural and ok? My fear is that their waste will cause a problem with the roots of the watermelons and cantaloupes I am trying to grow in the raft system.

I could probably try to move them into the fish tank, but I am sure they would quickly become a snack for the fish.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The local tadpoles in Perth will eat all your plant roots in a raft system.

Thanks, Gabe. I had not thought about that being an issue.

Let some grow into frogs, they are the best pest exterminators you can get.

I had crappy growth in my DWC bed, and I couldn't figure out why.

I was doing something in there, and I spotted a flash of movement, I ended up pulling 10 or so small goldfish from my DWC system, they'd hatched, and made their way through 2.4m of media bed, and into the DWC system.

I still think there are some loose in there. I doubt I caught them all. (I made a video on it if you wanted to watch).

Up to you if you want to pull them, or you could just drop a few bigger fish in there, and let them get fatter.
