Hi, my name is Kat and I am new to Aquaponics. I am going to build a small flood and drain system, when I get all the supplies. My parents have a Wallapini that I will be housing this in. If this project works we will build a bigger system. I do have one question right now. Any suggestions on a grow medium? I have heard about using clay balls, gravel, river rocks, lava rocks, vermiculite, peat moss, and coconut coir. Any help would be awesome, thanks. |

howdy.. i'm in ohio as well.. look forward to seeing what you do... whatever you decide; jtest to make sure it's ph neutral.. put a sample in a container and add some vinegar.. if it bubbles you'll struggle with high ph issues.. that being said, i got 3 tons of river gravel from a landscaping company, delivered for just over $100 no vermiculite in ap (to floaty)...i haven't used peat or coir, but others have.. they present their own challenges good luck and take lots of pics |
