Hi all, Read about Aquaponics on the Mr. Money Mustache web site last year. I couldn't do any gardening until now because of shade and grade issues. I'm hoping to get my first aquaponic system up an running this year. I've had experience with fish ponds (goldfish, very low maintenance) and fish tanks so I'm familiar with managing water chemistry and filtration systems. Hopefully some of that knowledge will prove useful! I won't eat the fish, so along with learning how to build the system, I'm curious about raising native fish that could be returned to a fishery. Is this even possible? |

Welcome to the forum Raising native fish can be done but whether they'll want them back in the fishery is another story. In some states you'll need a transport permit if you intend to take live fish home. There is also some concern about obtaining fish from different sources and by returning them to the wild accidentally spreading disease or pest organisms. |
