Hello We are very excited to be a part of this group. In December 2014, we moved down to Anguilla to start our Aquaponic garden. The first of its kind here on the Island, we cant wait to showcase this project. The garden is 30feet by 34 feet sitting on an arid piece of land overlooking the Caribbean Ocean. It has been designed to fit perfectly into the space right on the side of a cliff full of limestone rock. The garden is completely off grid and hosts 4 solar pannels and 1 wind turbine to power a 4000 gallon/ hr pump. We will be using volcanic rock in our garden and we will not be using any floating rafts in our growbeds. The garden consists of 2 fish tanks, totaling 3000 gallons, 4 16X4 and 4 14X4 grow beds. we plan to grow a variet of veggies and fruits including dabbling in strawberrys, guatalupe melon and kiwi. Although this is our first attempt I am sure we will quickly learn what grows well and what doesnt work out so well. We look forward to hearing your suggestions as we post our progress. Talk soon! Tom and Molly

Thank you all! We figured go big or go home LOL! As soon as we get approval (tuesday we hope) we will be lining the fish tanks and sump tank, then on to completing the grow beds, order our rocks and water and we will start a prelim run of the system. In the meantime we are looking for suggestions on the best place in the US to get our talipia. we are also looking for your thoughts on shade netting, we are thinking to go with 50% but any success stories are much appreciated |

Hi Tom and Molly, I'm in Anguilla as well. Your name came up on the internet. I bought a wholesale lot of stuff on eBay. Included were a dozen rolls of Phifer shadecloth and window screen. They're for sale at a discount if you can use them. They're Suntex80 and standard fiberglass insect screen, in 3 and 4 foot width rolls. I have a lot of other stuff that's surplus to my needs that I'd sell cheap. Plumbing, electrical, electronic stuff including industrial water quality meters and controllers, etc. that you can't get at AlberLake, nuh? |

Hi Tom and Molly, No, I have little interested in gardens, I just have too much stuff that I'd like to find a good home for. So since this will be of little interest to others, please email me at eastofthesun2 [at] gmail [dot] com and maybe we can get together. |
