Hi, I'm Graham. I live in the south of the UK in a county called Hampshire near a town called Andover. It's about 20 miles North of Southampton and 15 miles east of Stonehenge. Andover's not famous for much apart from being the home of The Troggs (60's band famous for Wild Thing) and a riot that took place in a work house in 1845. It is though, the epicentre of English chalk streams which are very famous for their clarity of water and fly fishing for trout. I've joined this forum as I'm inquisitive about how to set up my own aquaponic system, so I'm keen to garner as much best practice as possible. I am rather envious of the North American aquaponic/hydroponic community for several reasons. First the availability of diy materials, plc pipes, totes etc. and second, this only relates to certain states of course, your climate. Obviously the latter issue is a tad more difficult to deal with than the former, but hopefully through this forum I can at least gain greater insight into material sources (anyone want to export to the UK? ).Very happy to answer questions about English stuff, particularly about the southern part of this beautiful country. Before you ask though, I don't personally know anyone in the Royal Family but I do live 15 minutes away from Downton Abbey (Highclere Castle) and I have met Lady Carnarvon. |

Hi Graham Check out the IBC of aquaponics on this website. Probably the best intro to AP in the” Wuuuurld” ( JC Fan) and then my own blog ‘ vanilla project for a UK slant. |

Welcome, Graham! Although as a North American, I'm envious of the parts of Western Australia with which I share a Mediterranean climate. (Perth and Jandakot, I'm looking at you!) They have the added bonus of hosting BYAP/Cheidy Aquaponics. (Plus, y'all speak metric, same as nearly everybody else on the planet. smh…) I'm not sure if we (US) have the win over Oz as far as DIY goes. Guess I'll have to take a holiday in WA, purely for research purposes eh? |
