Hello everyone. So glad I found this forum. I have been researching the internet, have books ordered etc. Information overload. Our goal is to be able to provide most/all of our own food. We do not have acreage. Successfully have implemented chickens and lasagna gardening into our lifestyle. Now want to add Aquaponics. Question: We have an 18 x 33 x 52" above ground oval salt water swimming pool. No one really uses it (they go to the lake down the street) --- Of course, its green now after the winter, etc.... Could we turn this into our pond for our aquaponics system? We would like to raise fish, prawn, and crawdads as well as veggies, etc... |

Hey Shelly.... A very common question, have a loo at some of these topics from a search, there are a fair few threads that will give you further ideas.. search.php?keywords=swimming&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search |

Hi shelly, i am in wylie, we are neighbors. There's a couple of local aquaponics meetup groups. ONe of them is free and meets monthly. I dont always go because they meet in mansfield and there's usually 20-30 people there but it seems like it's always 80-90% new people asking aquaponic 101 questions and not as many people doing it so we can discuss successes failures and experiences. If the newbies take the info and start a system, i dont know becuse most dont come back and share/contribute. It's good to see someone else from the area "doing" brian |

bcotton, Yeah, your not far at all. I don't have any idea where Mansfield is. But I agree that knowing other people that are close is great! Glad to have a AP neighbor. I've been researching for a while. The pool was there and figured why not just jump on into AP now. I've read enough to understand the basics and thanks to this forum and its wonderful members will continue to receive advice through the process. I can't wait to get to the growing part. |
